I started karate on 11 March 2002, a month before my tenth birthday. I wanted to see what it was like as I have always been interested in Martial Arts and Wrestling since the age of two and I enjoyed watching films with the likes of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. These are still my interests today. Also, I am quite a small person for my age and I wanted to start it for Self defence, although, in the last three and a half years, I have never had to use it against others.(Apart from in training sessions). I trained twice a week with Sensei Tony Conroy and Sensei Nagin Mistry at Rushey Mead Karate Club. They gave me confidence and encouragement all the time. This gave me self belief in achieving my black belt. At first, I thought karate was all about sparing, but then I realised to be a good fighter you have to know the basics. Karate has helped me to keep fit and healthy. I achieved my black belt on 19 September 2005. I want to further my knowledge in karate for as long as I can under the instruction of Sensei Tony Conroy and Sensei Nagin Mistry. |
