My Interest in
the martial arts started at the age of 10 years.
However, it was not
until1976, whilst returning from hospital after being treated for a
broken nose whilst playing cricket, when I saw the sign 'Judo Karate
Aikido' outside Great Britain's oldest dojo at Leicester's Secular
Hall. Enquiries were made, and soon I was training with Sensei
Conroy.
Eternally grateful for the batsman who's shot broke my nose!
For the past 28
years, I have been privileged and fortunate enough to be trained by
Sensei Conroy, the finest instructor I have come across.
I have also had the
opportunity to train with and be graded by Japanese Sensei's Enoeda,
Tomita & Kawasoe and have attended residential courses.
Sensei's Conroy's extensive knowledge, vast experience, firm
training methods combined with his friendly personality, make him an
ideal instructor who has helped me to develop both physically and
mentally and given me the confidence to tackle any potentially aggressive
situation.
Through his
coaching, I have been able to pass my knowledge on to my children
and nieces who are also instructed by Sensei Conroy.
I have every intension to progress and further my study of the
martial arts through Sensei's coaching for as long as possible, as I
fine it very enjoyable and get a sense of achievement after each
session.
